We had the privilege of working  with several businesses in the past years. We helped them digitize their processes, automate their machinery and draw dashboards that they use to analyze how their business is performing every day. We have observed a few traits that defines the success of an implementation. You can call it the necessary ingredients to take your organization or manufacturing unit  several steps ahead of your competition so as to remain relevant to the market and secure the future of your company.  Today we will discuss about “Building the SMART mindset”.

1. Leadership with a vision

For a company to go through a digital transformation, it is necessary that the leadership has to first believe in the change. Sometimes ordinary leaders fall into a loop of complacence. Things are going right. The organization is doing good. Then why change things? A good leader realizes that an organization is an ongoing entity. And today’s world is constantly changing. Covid is a classic example of how a small jolt  can shake age old businesses. The one’s that stayed were those that foresaw the future and were ready for it. If the leadership believes that transformation is not just necessary but mandatory, then they will patiently walk the path to see it to completion.

2. People First attitude

Digitization becomes easy for the organization if people are taken into confidence. People have a lot of pre conceived notions about going digital, especially those in manufacturing. It is very important to make those involved, understand, why such a transformation is necessary so that all stakeholders can wholeheartedly believe and contribute towards the betterment of the company.

3. Laying the foundation

It is necessary to first build a digital mindset among all employees and stakeholders. The success of digitization depends on its meticulous implementation and completion. A half implemented solutions can cost you heavily. No matter how small the implementation, it has to be complete without holes in the data and its flow. Hence it is important to build the SMART mindset among people involved, of the importance of the process being implemented and data being collected. This is possible when the foundation bricks are laid, by showing the benefits, not only to the organization but also people themselves.
